Guide to Using Flash in Display Advertising

Using display advertising in your MarketGrabber software seems easy enough for uploaded images or pasted code. But what if you have a Flash file you wish to use? The following 3 possible scenarios should help you setup your Flash file for display:

  1. Flash File Provided with No HTML Code
    1. Upload your Flash file (Ex: YourFlash.swf) to your website’s “/Upload” directory using FTP.
    2. Create a display advertising record using the sample object code below to be pasted in the “Pasted Code” area of the display advertising form.
    3. Replace the highlighted values in the sample code below with your own. Note: Flash will NOT maintain the aspect ratio by default so you must enter the correct height and width or your display may look skewed or stretched.
  2. Flash File Provided with HTML Code
    1. Upload your Flash file (Ex: YourFlash.swf) to your website’s “/Upload” directory using FTP.
    2. Create a display advertising record using the object code provided to you to be pasted in the “Pasted Code” area of the display advertising form.
    3. NOTE: Please do not copy in any HTML page layout tags (Example: <html>, <head>, <body>, etc.) The “<object…” to “</object>” is all that is needed.
  3. Flash File Hosted on 3rd Party Web Service
    1. The 3rd party web service most likely provided you with HTML code. If so, follow the instructions in #2 above. Otherwise, follow the instructions in #1 above.
    2. Since the 3rd party web service is hosting the Flash file, you do not need to upload anything to your website. However, you should verify the location of the file is correctly pointing to the 3rd party server it is hosted on.
